• Santa Barbara, CA. 93101 Contact: Belen Seara (pueblo@sbpueblo.org) Telephone: 805-882-2484 • Fax: (805)-963-4799 http://www.sbpueblo.org/ Requirements: -Duration for summer internship depends on student's academic schedule 3 Areas for internships 1) Organizing: tenants rights, immigration rights, transportation Justice for Tenants Campaign -conduct research on local ordinances -train facilitators on workshops Intern to research housing issues -10 hrs/week for the school year -flexible travel; work from home -weekly meeting 2) Communication: website updating 3) Fundraising: introduction to what it means to fundraise, mailings, annual appeals Prerequisites: -Contact Belen Seara to attend 1 hour orientation before applying -After orientation, choose area and type of internship you want and send in resume and references to Belen Seara -Must be able to work independently with minimal supervision -Must have a commitment to social justice and equity -If applying for website internship, must have good writing and technical skills Deadlines: year round Description/Mission statement: PUEBLO is a 501(c)4 non-profit economic and environmental justice organization dedicated to building the political power and leadership of low-income residents throughout Santa Barbara County. PUEBLO primarily organizes around the following issues: living wage, public transportation, affordable housing, health care, immigrant rights, and child care. PUEBLO has neighborhood chapters in Santa Barbara, Santa Maria, Carpinteria, and Goleta. |
